About The Position

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum. The Senior Global Sourcing Manager - Critical Minerals will be responsible for maintaining the sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget, and on-time metrics. They will adhere to corporate and departmental purchasing and accounting practices and procedures. The role involves sourcing and contracting activities, including sourcing strategy, bid list development and management, quote analysis and review, coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, leader's sourcing recommendation and alignment with cross-functional teams, executive complex supply agreements, and management of sourcing documentation related to the RFQ process in adherence to GM Audit Services requirements. The position will also support direct material budget activities, lead supplier relationship management initiatives (including Strategic Supplier Engagement), nurture supplier relationships as a focal point for commercial issue resolution, perform change management activities, lead or represent the purchasing function in supplier KPI reviews, and represent purchasing while supporting the mitigation of supply chain disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)
  • Proficient in completing tasks autonomously, without coaching the following competencies: Data Judgement, Informative Communication, Relationship Management
  • Demonstrates ability to execute with little support in the following competencies: Negotiation, Analytical Thinking, Results Focus, Workload Management
  • Ability to travel 10%-15% domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related advanced degree
  • Experience with critical minerals
  • Experience mapping end-to-end supply chains and analyzing value chains
  • Cost analysis or manufacturing experience
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Knowledge of Capacity and Materials Management
  • Capable of drawing conclusions from complex data, market trends and the regulatory environment
  • Ability to understand basic engineering documents and technical drivers for the applicable commodities
  • Knowledge of contract law as it applies to the purchasing processes

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations, global budget, and on-time metrics
  • Adhering to corporate and departmental purchasing and accounting practices and procedures
  • Sourcing and contracting activities that include, but are not limited to: Sourcing strategy, bid list development & management, Quote analysis and review, Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR compliance, technical documentation and quality alignment, Leader's sourcing recommendation and alignment with cross-functional teams, Executive complex supply agreements, Management of sourcing documentation related to RFQ process in adherence to the GM Audit Services requirements
  • Supporting direct material budget activities
  • Leading supplier relationship management initiatives, including “Strategic Supplier Engagement” and nurturing relationships with suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
  • Performing change management activities
  • Leading or representing the purchasing function in supplier KPI reviews
  • Representing purchasing and supporting mitigation of supply chain disruptions
