About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Global Travel, Meeting and Event Operations, the Senior Global Corporate Travel Specialist will lead all aspects of the multi-national corporate travel program (domestic as well as international) to ensure our travel needs are met. Leads development of travel strategies in conjunction with other areas of the company including but not limited to global security, finance, sustainability, business continuity, and supports the Meeting and Event Operations function (aka SMMP) within the department. This is a full-time, hybrid (3 days in-office) position located at our Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 5+ years of corporate travel management experience on a global scale
  • Knowledge of international travel regulations, GDPR, customs, and currencies
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills
  • Well-organized and reliable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver, with proactive mindset
  • Experience in negotiating supplier contracts related to air, car, and hotel categories
  • Experience with implementing/maintaining online booking tools such as Concur or Cytric
  • Understanding of strategic meeting management (SMMP)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience to lead significant travel-related projects including new business and system implementations preferred
  • CCTE or GTP designation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis of travel KPI’s on a regular basis supporting reports to ULS executive team as well as key stakeholders
  • Evaluates and identifies global travel program opportunities from a strategic perspective, supporting recommendations to develop, prioritize and implement plans to meet ULS’s core strategic goals including traveler safety and cost containment.
  • Directs operational effectiveness and compliance in the organization’s global travel program.
  • Understands local travel culture/differences and local tools and systems.
  • Lead collaboration with the Travel Management Company and preferred travel partners for opportunities to optimize the program and resolve issues.
  • Regularly monitors travel vendor performance and contract compliance.
  • Understands industry trends for developing future programs and cost savings strategy.
  • Oversee audit processes and action feedback from travelers and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain our online booking tools as well as recommend/implement changes when necessary
  • Keeps abreast of current travel developments and informs travelers as needed.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices
  • Performs other duties as directed.
