About The Position

GEMTEC is expanding its presence in Ontario and is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for its Geotechnical Division in Mississauga. This role offers a challenging and inviting workplace with opportunities for career advancement. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team focused on Geotechnical, Hydrogeological, Environmental, and Materials projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering (Geological Engineering program may be suitable) from a recognized university.
  • 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills (English), strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time in order to deliver quality work on time and on budget.
  • Significant experience in geotechnical analysis, reporting, evaluations, and inspections.
  • Experience with geotechnical software applications such as Slope/W, Seep/W, Sigma/W, Slide, Settle3D, FLAC, or similar.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Be motivated to provide excellent client service and enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with Ministry of Transportation foundation engineering project experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact for key clients on portfolios of large, interdisciplinary projects.
  • Execute on geotechnical aspects of a variety of projects including writing proposals, field work, data analysis, preparing geotechnical design recommendations and writing geotechnical reports.
  • Actively collaborate with Branch Managers on business planning and market strategy.
  • Perform project management functions, including proposal preparation, budget estimation, scheduling, scope management, project summary report preparation, maintaining quality throughout the project, and implementing improvements.
  • Collaborate with junior and intermediate staff to complete geotechnical analysis and reporting.
  • Provide senior technical review on discipline related elements of projects ensuring technical excellence aligns with client needs.
  • Mentor and supervise junior and intermediate staff.
  • Work with engineers and scientists across various disciplines to design and implement innovative and cost effective solutions.
  • Client management and consultation as required to manage projects and develop a client base.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
