About The Position

S&ME is seeking a full-time Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its team in New Albany, Indiana. The role serves as a technical and project leader, guiding geotechnical projects from early planning through final delivery while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and performance. The engineer applies advanced knowledge of subsurface investigations, analysis, and design to develop practical solutions for challenging site conditions. The role also involves working with clients and project partners, contributing to business development and long-term client relationships, mentoring junior engineers, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and refining processes to improve efficiency and consistency.

The position offers professional training, mentorship, hands-on experience, and opportunities for career growth. Candidates must comply with fleet management, substance policy, and reference check requirements and have valid employment eligibility. Visa assistance is not available.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related engineering field.
• A minimum of 8 years of project management experience in the A/E/C industry.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one.
• Strong computer skills, including at a minimum Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee geotechnical evaluations related to foundations, settlement, slope stability, and earth support systems.
• Recommend appropriate ground improvement or mitigation methods.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to support successful project execution.
• Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to junior staff.
• Prepare clear, well-organized technical reports and contribute to project proposals.
• Support marketing and relationship-building activities.
• Promote best practices and maintain compliance with company standards.
• Emphasize safety, risk management, schedule adherence, and quality control throughout project phases.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and refine processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
