About The Position

Peraton is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to provide cloud software research, development, and engineering services for a national security program. The role leads the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and system design through integration, testing, deployment, and long-term enhancement of mission-critical cloud applications. It focuses on building and sustaining robust, large-scale distributed systems and delivering end-to-end full-stack software services. The engineer will design and implement solutions using massively parallel computing models and NoSQL architectures, diagnose complex technical issues, and improve system performance and reliability. The position also involves integrating and extending FOSS/COTS products, producing test plans and scripts, documenting technical designs and data models, implementing CI/CD, and deploying and maintaining a production web application. The engineer collaborates with data scientists, engineers, and product managers. The role particularly values expertise in Neo4j graph modeling and analytics, Java microservices using Spring Boot, graph integration with relational databases or search engines, analytics and pattern discovery, cloud scalability, specialized media and language processing, and data modeling. Active TS/SCI clearance with current Polygraph is required. Peraton offers enhanced benefits for employees supporting this program, including subsidized employee coverage, PTO, and bonus-plan eligibility.

Requirements

  • At least eight years of software development or engineering experience across the full SDLC.
  • At least six years of experience with high-level programming languages such as Java, C, or C++.
  • At least five years developing software for UNIX/Linux environments, specifically Red Hat versions.
  • Experience with NoSQL products such as HBase, Accumulo, or Bigtable.
  • Hands-on experience with MapReduce technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, or Pig, and HDFS.
  • Proficiency in RESTful services and serialization formats such as JSON or BSON.
  • Experience in requirements analysis and design for at least one major object-oriented system.
  • Experience delivering full-stack, end-to-end software services.
  • Advanced development experience in the Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring Data, Spring Security, and Spring Cloud.
  • Knowledge in at least four of the following areas: Neo4j graph data modeling and performance; enterprise Java microservices; graph-relational integration; graph analytics and algorithms; advanced analytics; cloud scalability; AI and pattern discovery; specialized processing such as speech, text, image, or video; and data modeling.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with current Polygraph.
  • Twenty years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; four additional years of relevant SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and optimizing complex Neo4j graph schemas, optimizing Cypher queries, managing indexes, and using APOC procedures for batching and large-scale data transformations.
  • Experience implementing scalable, high-concurrency backend services and performance tuning with Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security, and Spring Cloud.
  • Experience integrating graph databases with traditional RDBMS platforms or search engines such as Elasticsearch in polyglot persistence architectures.
  • Familiarity with the Neo4j Graph Data Science library and algorithms such as pathfinding, centrality, or community detection.
  • Experience developing data-driven or event-driven analytics orchestrated through rules engines.
  • Understanding of massive scalability patterns used by companies such as Amazon and Google.
  • Experience with genetic algorithms, inference engines, or identifying latent patterns in datasets exceeding 10 petabytes.
  • Experience in foreign-language processing, multimedia exploitation (speech, text, image, or video), or social network discovery.
  • Experience documenting complex ontologies, schemas, and API specifications in heterogeneous environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end full-stack software services, including requirements analysis, installation, evaluation, and issue resolution.
  • Lead software development across requirements analysis, system design, integration, testing, and long-term enhancement.
  • Diagnose complex technical issues and develop sustainable enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Design and implement solutions using massively parallel computation models and NoSQL architectures for large-scale datasets.
  • Develop and implement rigorous test plans and scripts.
  • Integrate and extend FOSS/COTS products to meet project requirements.
  • Create technical documents, ontologies, and data models to support project transparency and maintainability.
  • Write and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Deploy and maintain the web application in a production environment.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers, and communicate technical information clearly.

Benefits

  • Heavily subsidized employee benefits coverage for employees and dependents supporting the program.
  • 25 days of PTO accrued annually, up to a generous PTO cap.
  • Eligibility to participate in a bonus plan.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Life insurance.
  • Health savings account.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Employee assistance program (EAP).
  • Parental leave.
  • 401(k).
