Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (ArsenalOS Deployment)

Anduril•Santa Ana, CA
•$191,000 - $253,000

About The Position

As a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer on the ArsenalOS Deployment initiative, you will build and operate full-stack web applications for daily production planning, work assignment, and team-lead dashboards on the factory floor. You will develop offline-capable, mobile-friendly interfaces for operators working in network-constrained environments, where reliability and usability are essential. You will own Maritime-specific manufacturing software requirements end to end, including deciding whether to build or extend solutions. The work is currently centered on shop-floor execution and scheduling capabilities in the manufacturing execution system (MES), with a mandate that may extend to other MES, ERP, and manufacturing capabilities. You will design, develop, deploy, and operate systems across Maritime factories, including edge compute clusters and OT networks. The role also includes an on-call rotation supporting production systems, cross-functional collaboration, and setting technical direction while mentoring junior engineers. Maritime Digital Production builds and deploys the software and digital systems used in Anduril's Heavy Metal shipbuilding factories. Its work spans operational technology and information technology, from factory-floor machines, sensors, edge compute, and OT networks to enterprise platforms and cloud infrastructure. The team develops and validates solutions with factory operators, hardens them for reliability and security, and scales them across multiple sites. The output of this work supports ship production. The team is scaling from a founding team to more than 70 engineers across multiple U.S. sites.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in a software engineering role building production systems, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep expertise in full-stack web development, including frontend and backend systems.
  • Strong technical fluency in modern software architectures, APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, and cloud or edge infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and modern web frameworks.
  • Experience building offline-capable web applications using service workers, IndexedDB, local storage, and progressive web app patterns.
  • Experience building systems that operate reliably under real-world constraints, such as high availability, low latency, or constrained environments.
  • Experience working with large enterprise applications and platforms with high availability requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • U.S. Person status is required because the position needs access to export-controlled data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or OT-adjacent domains such as MES, SCADA, PLC integration, factory automation, or IoT.
  • Hands-on experience building mobile-first or offline-capable web applications for network-constrained, industrial, or field environments.
  • Experience with data synchronization patterns, conflict resolution strategies, and eventual consistency models in distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with frontier AI tooling, AI coding assistants, and AI-enabled software development workflows.
  • Experience in hyper-growth, startup-like environments, balancing speed, ambiguity, and long-term system health.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, WMS, or manufacturing planning systems.
  • Experience designing UX/UI for non-desk workers, including touch-optimized, rugged-device interfaces and accessibility considerations for manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in manufacturing industries with hands-on exposure to assembly lines or production environments.
  • Understanding of edge computing architectures and deployment patterns for factory-floor applications.
  • Experience with GraphQL, real-time data subscriptions, or WebSocket-based architectures.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Build full-stack web applications for daily production planning, work assignment, and team-lead operational dashboards that support real-time factory execution.
  • Develop offline-capable, mobile-friendly interfaces for factory operators working in network-constrained or intermittently connected environments.
  • Own Maritime-specific manufacturing software requirements end to end and make build-versus-extend decisions.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and operate software across Maritime factories.
  • Partner with manufacturing engineers and factory operators to understand production workflows and translate them into software requirements.
  • Write production-quality code with comprehensive tests and participate in code reviews and architectural discussions.
  • Implement offline-first architectures using service workers, local storage, and background sync.
  • Build responsive, touch-optimized interfaces for tablets and mobile devices used in harsh manufacturing environments.
  • Architect data synchronization strategies, including conflict resolution and data integrity between edge devices and backend systems.
  • Deploy and operate systems in factory environments, including edge compute clusters and OT networks.
  • Use AI tooling in the development workflow and contribute to team engineering practices.
  • Join an on-call rotation supporting production factory systems.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, data engineers, factory systems teams, and operations to integrate with MES, data pipelines, and enterprise systems.
  • Set technical direction and mentor junior engineers on resilient, user-centered manufacturing software.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as comprehensive and competitive and available at little to no cost to employees.
