Senior Full Stack Engineer

VYNYL•Seattle, WA
•$140,000 - $175,000

About The Position

Vynyl is hiring a senior full-stack developer to lead work across the software development lifecycle, from conceptual design through deployment and monitoring. The role focuses on building robust, scalable backend services with Python and AWS serverless technologies, and developing event-sourced systems that provide complete state history and auditability. The engineer will also use modern AI and machine-learning development tools and be able to discuss their limitations, security implications, and strategic opportunities for software engineering. The position involves collaborating with product managers and designers to translate requirements into technical designs and shippable code, promoting technical excellence through code reviews and mentoring, and researching and integrating technologies and patterns that improve development velocity and system performance. Vynyl works on client challenges, often in regulated industries including healthcare, financial services, government, and education, using cloud-native and AI-enabled tools alongside Agile, Lean, and design-thinking practices.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Python for backend development, including Django.
  • Strong working proficiency with Vue.js and TypeScript.
  • Practical experience designing, deploying, and maintaining applications using serverless architectures, preferably AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and managed services.
  • Proficiency with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of event sourcing and event-driven architecture patterns, with experience using message brokers or streaming services such as SQS, SNS, EventBridge, or Kinesis.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-powered coding tools to achieve specific, quantifiable productivity gains, along with the ability to understand and mitigate risks such as code quality, security, and intellectual-property concerns.
  • Ability to discuss practical AI tool use, AI limitations, strategic opportunities, and how AI is changing and may continue to change the engineering role.
