About The Position

BitGo Labs is seeking an engineer to build and launch real, live, revenue-generating products at an unprecedented speed. Unlike traditional innovation labs, BitGo Labs focuses on shipping products that leverage crypto-specific value propositions and AI as a force multiplier. The first product was launched within ninety days, and more are planned, with the potential to become businesses or be shut down based on performance. Engineers in this role will be the backbone of products from inception to customer delivery, working in small, agile teams alongside a senior PM, Head of Labs, and BitGo's CEO. The emphasis is on full-stack ownership, rapid iteration, and choosing pragmatic technologies. AI is expected to significantly boost output, and engineers must be adept at using these tools effectively and critically. The role involves integrating BitGo's core services and third-party vendors, with a strong focus on shipping to real users, instrumenting everything, and continuous improvement. Launch day is considered a midpoint, leading to handoffs, wind-downs, or further development based on learnings.

Requirements

Someone who has built a product from nothing (startup, side project, or first engineer on a zero-to-one team).
Made the tradeoffs that only matter when there's no one else to make them.
Genuinely full-stack, 5+ years deep.
Experience with modern web frontend, API and service design, data modeling, cloud deployment.
Dangerous at all layers of the stack (not necessarily world-class at every layer).
Has made AI part of how they work, with visibly impossible daily throughput without these tools and strong opinions on AI limitations.
Comfortable with crypto, or unafraid of getting there fast (consuming wallets, stablecoins, and settlement as APIs).
Curiosity is required, maximalism is not.
Someone who ships over polishes, understanding the difference between cuttable corners and those that cut back (security and money-handling are critical).
Ability to throw away their own code when a product is killed, taking the learning and reusable parts to start the next one without a mourning period.

Responsibilities

Be the engineering backbone of a product from its first commit to its first customer.
Work in a tiny team alongside a senior PM, the Head of Labs, and BitGo's CEO.
Make architecture calls that allow products to ship in ninety days.
Choose boring technology on purpose, focusing innovation budget on the product, not the stack.
Build the whole thing: Frontend, backend, data, deployment.
Integrate BitGo's custody, wallet, stablecoin, and settlement rails, and third-party vendors.
Use AI as a force multiplier, achieving 5x output and knowing when not to trust AI tools.
Ship to real users, instrument everything, and keep shipping.
Start the next product with everything learned after a product graduates or dies.
Take a product thesis and a deadline, not a ticket queue.
