About The Position

WebCreek is seeking a senior full-stack engineer to develop and optimize complex enterprise applications, with a focus on data engineering, distributed systems, and scalable application architecture. The role involves hands-on work with React and NestJS and ownership of architectural decisions, performance optimization, and reliability improvements for data-intensive systems. The position designs and maintains enterprise applications, data pipelines, scalable backend services, APIs, and asynchronous processing workflows. It also includes database and system performance tuning, production troubleshooting, security implementation, technical documentation, code reviews, and collaboration across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure teams. The position is on-site in Houston, Texas; relocation candidates are encouraged to apply. Candidates outside Houston may complete part of the interview process remotely, though at least one interview may be in person.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong background in backend development, data-intensive applications, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing full-stack applications with React and NestJS.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering principles, including data pipelines, data processing, data integration, and performance optimization.
  • Experience designing and optimizing scalable distributed systems and backend architectures.
  • Experience developing APIs, backend services, and asynchronous processing workflows.
  • Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Redis, caching strategies, and application performance optimization.
  • Understanding of message queues, event-driven architectures, and reliable asynchronous processing.
  • Experience identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks across databases, backend services, and distributed applications.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization, including OIDC or similar protocols.
  • Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting business-critical applications in production environments.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional architecture discussions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and drive engineering decisions.
  • Strong understanding of system scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with engineering teams and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of complex technical challenges, and deliver solutions with minimal supervision.
