Requirements

• Fluency in Ruby: we're on Ruby 3.4 and Rails 8.1, and you'll be expected to set the standard for code quality, not just meet it
• Proven experience deploying and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications in production environments
• Familiarity with open source API gems
• Strong system design fundamentals; able to reason about API design, database modeling, and cross-system trade-offs
• Curious, transparent, and detail-oriented: you enjoy learning, listening, and sharing what you know
• You naturally share knowledge and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the team
• Comfortable using AI coding tools daily and opinionated about how to use them well

Nice To Haves

• Experience with DevOps or design systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with colleagues to solve business problems through technical implementations on the platform
• Contribute to our GraphQL API, service architecture, queuing system, database systems, and other core infrastructure services
• Know when to move fast and iterate, and when to align the team around a written proposal first
• Contribute to our internal design system to ensure modern frontend practices are respected
• Champion AI-assisted engineering practices; using LLM tools effectively in your own work and helping the team raise its baseline
• Mentor and act as a subject matter expert within the team
