About The Position

Weave is building a collaborative document platform and is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer who is passionate about craftsmanship, usability, and delivering functional products for customers. The ideal candidate will excel at problem discovery, prototyping, and production, making sound trade-offs. This role is for someone who enjoys transforming ambiguous customer problems into polished, high-performance interfaces.

Requirements

5+ years of production experience building modern web applications with React, TypeScript, and the broader frontend ecosystem (state management, bundlers, testing frameworks, design systems).
Proficiency in using AI-powered tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to accelerate workflow, including code generation, exploration, debugging, and documentation, while applying critical technical judgment.
Experience working in an early-stage, product-focused company (ideally <50 people), demonstrating autonomy, comfort with ambiguity, and resourcefulness.
Strong product instincts, considering user journeys, edge cases, accessibility, and business outcomes.
A bias for action with high standards, moving quickly without compromising quality and knowing when to optimize versus ship.
Pragmatic and clear thinking, with the ability to break down complex problems, make decisive choices, and communicate reasoning effectively.
A collaborative mindset, including giving and receiving feedback generously and prioritizing team success.

Nice To Haves

Experience building rich text editors or real-time collaborative features (e.g., Slate, ProseMirror, Yjs, Liveblocks).
Familiarity with regulated domains or products where data privacy and security are critical.
Contributions to open-source projects or a history of sharing knowledge with the engineering community.

Responsibilities

Understand customer product usage and translate it into intuitive frontend experiences.
Collaborate with Product and Design teams to shape product development from ideation to delivery.
Architect and build a document editor with real-time, multiplayer collaboration features, including CRDTs, presence indicators, and conflict resolution, ensuring seamless performance at scale.
Write high-quality, performant, and well-tested TypeScript and React code, prioritizing readability, maintainability, and thoughtful abstractions.
Drive technical direction and software design decisions, managing complexity to maintain a healthy codebase as the product evolves.
Deliver value iteratively by balancing speed and quality, measuring impact, and refining based on user feedback.
