About The Position

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key component of our internal finance team and is a critical operational finance partner for our practices, offering confident communication, strategic insight and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization. As the Senior FP&A Analyst, you will support leaders across multiple practices, providing financial insights that drive strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, an ownership mentality and a proactive, go-getter attitude to a dynamic and collaborative environment. Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office. We are also open to individuals working remotely for this opportunity if they are within driving distance from our clients and offices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Minimum of three years of experience in FP&A or corporate finance
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including the ability to build and maintain complex models and to consolidate data from disparate sources into succinct, sustainable reporting formats
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial data to senior leadership
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to succinctly and efficiently communicate complex topics
Proven ability to work independently and execute key deliverables with minimal oversight
Comfort operating with incomplete information, using sound judgment and prior experience to make decisions and drive alignment with leadership rather than waiting for direction
Understands the details, but able to operate and summarize information at a high level to provide leadership with the right information needed to make quick decisions
Strategic business mindset with the ability to think ahead about potential risks, opportunities and having the ability to understand or estimate financial and operational impacts
Advanced skills and proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
Experience working with large data sets and disparate systems
Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, including with IT/Data teams
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
Experience leading projects and driving process improvements

Nice To Haves

Experience with Power BI or other visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) for advanced business intelligence and information reporting
Experience with FP&A software (e.g., Vena, Datarails, Workday Adaptive Planning)
Experience serving as a finance business partner to senior leadership
Experience with FP&A/reporting system implementation
Experience building a bottoms-up budget or forecast model from the ground up
CPA and/or MBA designation

Responsibilities

Along with the Senior Manager, FP&A, serve as a key business partner with practice unit leaders to provide analysis and decision support to enable the achievement of firm goals and financial objectives
Support month end close reporting and analysis
Partner with the Senior Manager, FP&A to own the annual budget process end-to-end, moving from a top-down approach to a bottoms-up model built and maintained in partnership with practice unit leaders
Work with practice unit leaders to develop and maintain quarterly forecasts
Support firm-wide reporting requirements by building reports that meet stakeholder needs
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI
Maintain the firm’s long-term financial model, updating and creating various scenario options
Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support investments and new business initiatives
Support the leadership team in the preparation of regular shareholder, board and firm meeting materials
Provide exceptional internal customer service and build strong relationships across departments
Serve as a trusted advisor, exhibiting executive presence in interactions with senior leadership and practice unit leaders
