About The Position

National Capitol Contracting is seeking a skilled and innovative Senior Foundry Developer to design and build operational applications within Palantir Foundry. This position will focus on translating Navy business and mission requirements into user-facing applications, automated workflows, and scalable technical solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders, data engineers, and technical teams to deliver applications that improve decision-making and operational performance. This is an opportunity to build applications and tools that directly strengthen the Navy’s digital and operational capabilities within the Naval Digital Logistics Acceleration program.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • 9 years of experience in software development, application development, platform development, or a related technical field. (4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree, for a total of at least 13 years of relevant professional experience.)
  • Hands-on experience developing applications or operational workflows within Palantir Foundry.
  • Experience with Foundry Workshop, Ontology, Actions, Functions, or comparable application-development capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Qlik, Power BI, or other business intelligence and visualization tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, data models, and data relationships.
  • Experience integrating applications with APIs, databases, or external enterprise systems.
  • Experience supporting the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Experience with automated testing, version control, debugging, and code-review practices.
  • Ability to translate complex business and operational requirements into functional technical solutions.
  • Understanding of application security, user permissions, access controls, and data-governance principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience with Palantir Foundry, including Workshop, Ontology, Actions, Functions, Code Repositories, or related capabilities.
  • Palantir Foundry certification or formal Foundry training.
  • Experience developing custom Foundry applications using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, or Python.
  • Experience building ontology-driven applications and automated operational workflows.
  • Familiarity with Foundry data pipelines, transforms, datasets, and data-modeling concepts.
  • Experience developing applications that consume data from Databricks or other large-scale data platforms.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, and Agile development practices.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Navy, federal government, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience leading application-development efforts or mentoring development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain user-facing applications within Palantir Foundry.
  • Build operational applications and workflows using Foundry Workshop, Ontology, Actions, Functions, and related development capabilities.
  • Translate business, mission, and user requirements into application designs and technical solutions.
  • Develop application logic, reusable components, automated workflows, and interactive user experiences.
  • Configure ontology objects, relationships, properties, and actions to support operational applications.
  • Integrate Foundry applications with APIs, databases, external applications, and enterprise systems.
  • Develop custom functionality using Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, or other applicable programming languages.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure applications use accurate, reliable, and properly structured data.
  • Create prototypes and proof-of-concept applications to validate requirements and gather user feedback.
  • Implement automated testing and validation to ensure application reliability and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot application defects, integration issues, performance concerns, and user-reported problems.
  • Optimize applications for usability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Apply appropriate security permissions, access controls, and data-governance requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established development, testing, documentation, and deployment standards.
  • Document application architecture, technical designs, configurations, workflows, and support procedures.
  • Conduct application demonstrations and gather feedback from technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
