Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer (GenAI, AWS)
About The Position
Provectus is a Premier AWS partner and an Anthropic Strategic Partner focused on applied AI, helping enterprises leverage AI technologies like Claude and agentic systems to achieve measurable business outcomes. We operate globally with offices in North America, LATAM, and EMEA, specializing in Financial Services & Insurance and Healthcare & Life Sciences. Our approach involves embedding engineers and leaders directly into client operations as Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) and Forward Deployed Executives (FDX). These roles involve learning the client's job firsthand, shipping AI-driven systems, and owning the results. We differentiate ourselves by removing the traditional requirements-gathering step, instead having engineers spend initial weeks performing the client's actual job (e.g., underwriter, analyst) to understand internal constraints before rebuilding functions from first principles. This embedded, autonomous model focuses on real tasks and measurable business impact, not just scope delivery. We build upon industry blueprints—pre-existing, working systems—and iterate based on field learnings. This role is for experienced engineers who want to remain hands-on with code while taking ownership of business outcomes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software building experience, with a significant portion in production code accountability.
- Hands-on coding proficiency and intent to remain so.
- Willingness to spend weeks performing a client's job before coding.
- Demonstrated ability to learn business domains quickly.
- Production experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems.
- Experience evaluating non-deterministic systems.
- Strong engineering fundamentals, enabling productivity in unfamiliar codebases or languages.
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS (GCP/Azure a plus), including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, IaC, CI/CD.
- Ability to communicate credibly with senior stakeholders.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ownership.
- Solid AI/ML foundations.
- Strong hands-on production experience with Claude Code/Cowork.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader who has returned to individual contribution.
- Deep expertise in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.
- Experience in consulting, professional services, or other embedded customer-facing delivery.
- Data platform expertise: data lakes, warehouses, streaming analytics, data mesh, data contracts, governance, data quality.
- MLOps and classical ML experience: PyTorch, SageMaker, MLflow.
- Experience with fine-tuning, distillation, or inference/serving optimization.
- Experience with graph databases (Neo4j, AWS Neptune).
- IaC depth: AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform.
- Open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI.
Responsibilities
- Take on the operator's role for weeks to understand a business function (e.g., claims processing, underwriting, revenue-cycle work) before writing code.
- Become conversant in unfamiliar business domains quickly to effectively collaborate with domain experts.
- Ship Generative AI/LLM systems to production, handling complexities beyond the prototyping stage.
- Build and maintain evaluation suites for non-deterministic systems.
- Deliver cloud-native solutions on AWS, including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD.
- Engage in technical discussions with senior stakeholders, including BU heads and CTOs.
- Take ownership and navigate ambiguity in engagements that are intentionally underspecified.
- Apply strong AI/ML foundations to understand model failure modes.
- Utilize Claude Code/Cowork for production environments.
- Contribute to building AI delivery tooling and frameworks.
