The City of Raleigh is seeking a Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialist to join our Transportation department. Joining our Transportation Maintenance Division will provide an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the maintenance of critical infrastructure such as sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt, medians, and storm drains. As a member of our 222 person staff, you will contribute to maintenance of 1,130 miles of streets and sidewalks; the upkeep of over 33,000 curb ramps; and the protection of 3.2 million linear feet of stormwater pipes connecting more than 32,000 drainage inlets. This position is devoted to providing repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and related systems. This role performs a broad range of specialized vehicle and equipment repair requiring advanced knowledge and experience, using independent initiative to solve technical problems. Incumbents may assist in training staff and serve as a second level of check for accuracy or supervise/lead lower-level staff. Decision-making includes how and when tasks are carried out within an operational process, limited by the selection of the process and establishment of deadlines and outcomes. This position is required to work extended hours during special events, emergencies, and inclement weather.
