About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer with ten or more years of experience for their growing Honolulu office. This role is ideal for someone passionate about their craft and seeking an environment that promotes professional growth. The engineer will strengthen the fire protection engineering team and collaborate with other internal disciplines on a variety of local projects. The ideal candidate will have a history of providing consulting services to external and internal clients using fire protection engineering technical skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from accredited college or university (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Fire Protection)
• EIT and P.E. are required
• Fire Protection License by examination issued by any state in the United States
• Minimum of 10 years dedicated working experience in the Fire Protection engineering profession
• Minimum of 5 years of responsible charge of Fire Protection Life Safety Designs
• Travel is required (estimated travel time is 35%)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Military Security Clearance

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems, as well as design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and mass notification systems
• Perform building and fire code analysis and interpretation
• Manage day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients while utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
• Perform research and documenting for internal and external distribution
• Building and fire code analysis and interpretation
• Project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs
