About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated Fire Protection Engineer with zero to three years of experience. This role involves working with professionals on challenging projects, providing clients with expertise in automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from accredited college or university
  • From 0 to 3 years of professional experience
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • A positive attitude with a focus on team and client success
  • Computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, simple graphics, and a working knowledge of computer aided drafting

Nice To Haves

  • Fire Protection specific degree desired
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred; candidates planning to take the exam within the next six months are also preferred
  • Experience with the current version of AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Providing clients with automatic suppression system design
  • Providing clients with fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design
  • Providing clients with code analysis
  • Providing clients with egress analysis
  • Providing clients with fire resistant construction analysis
  • Providing clients with smoke control analysis
  • Providing clients with general fire protection and life safety concepts and research
  • Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients while utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
  • Performing research and documenting for internal and external distribution
  • Analysis of existing fire protection systems
  • Design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, fire alarm and mass notification systems
  • Building and fire code analysis and interpretation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
