About The Position

Lynch Consultants is seeking a Senior Financial Statement Consultant to support the Department of the Navy (DON) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC). This role involves providing functional accounting support across high-impact DON and USMC financial management operations. The position is ideal for candidates with experience in Annual Financial Report (AFR) preparation and auditing, DFAS, Journal Voucher (JV) reviews, financial reporting, and financial statement crosswalks. Ideal candidates will possess subject-matter expertise in Department of War (DoW) and federal accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to assess, reconcile, and validate financial data in alignment with DoW, DON, and USMC Financial Management Regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a Business Management-related field.
  • At least 6 – 10+ years of federal accounting or financial management experience.
  • Proficiency in preparing Annual Financial Reports (AFRs).
  • Proficiency in reviewing Journal Vouchers (JVs).
  • Proficiency in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial statement crosswalks.
  • Experience working at or with DFAS.
  • Proficiency with DoW financial systems (e.g., N-ERP, DAI).
  • Proficiency with data analytics platforms (e.g., Advana, Jupiter).
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • US Citizen.
  • Located in the National Capital Region (DC, Virginia, Maryland).
  • Possess one of the following professional certifications or the ability to obtain one within 6-months of being hired: CPA, CISA, CGFM, CDFM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional accounting support across high-impact DON and USMC financial management operations.
  • Prepare Annual Financial Reports (AFRs).

  • Perform financial reporting.
  • Conduct financial statement crosswalks.
  • Work at or with DFAS.
  • Utilize DoW financial systems (e.g., N-ERP, DAI) and data analytics platforms (e.g., Advana, Jupiter).
  • Review and verify financial documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with DoW, DON and USMC Financial Management Regulations.
  • Reconcile data across financial systems, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform audit sample selection, review, and follow-up to support audit readiness and remediation.
  • Conduct compliance reviews, prepare findings reports, and recommend policy or process improvements.
  • Present findings to senior stakeholders.
