About The Position

Waukesha County's Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to lead complex financial, accounting, budgeting, and operational analysis activities in support of County programs and strategic initiatives primarily for our Aging and Disability Resource Center. This position plays a key role in budget development, financial forecasting, financial reporting, audit support, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and County financial policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting and analytical background with experience interpreting complex financial data, investigating variances, developing forecasts and cost models, and making strategic recommendations to leadership. Responsibilities include monitoring operating budgets, preparing and analyzing financial and statistical reports, supporting audits and financial system processes, evaluating the fiscal impact of programs and policy changes, and partnering with department leadership on financial planning and decision-making. We are seeking a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and can translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for operational and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible, professional work experience in the area of budget preparation and review, accounting, cost accounting, financial reporting, or internal auditing.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • A master's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the work experience requirement.
