About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst position on the Financial Planning & Analysis team is focused on providing financial support to First Citizens Bank Enterprise Technology and Operations organization (ET&O). ET&O includes Technology, Operations, Enterprise Digital, Enterprise Data, Enterprise Cybersecurity, and other groups. The Senior Financial Analyst will partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, month end close, allocations and various analysis projects in support of the senior leadership team. The Senior Financial Analyst will recommend improvements to current procedures, plans, and controls to achieve financial objectives, and assists in implementing recommended enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Finance or Analytics OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Finance or Analytics
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work independently with limited management supervision
  • Ability to complete assigned responsibilities as a team and engage with business partners with a friendly, service-oriented attitude
  • Attention to detail in applying organization’s accounting policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a complex work environment, including interacting well with increasingly senior partners and a wide variety of groups (financial planning & analysis team, and accounting teams)
  • Understanding of project accounting and project financial reporting
  • Ability to handle several different responsibilities at the same time without loss of productivity or quality

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of FP&A experience, including development and/or direct management of driver-based forecasting and allocations.
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase and advanced Excel skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working closely with the Leadership team to gather necessary information.
  • Maintain financial models to support forecasting activities, ensuring they reflect current trends and project impacts.
  • Conduct trend analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights to management.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to Leadership, highlighting variances and adjustments as needed.
  • Produces reports based on data analysis, company trends, and financial processes.
  • Conveys patterns, problems, and areas of improvement.
  • Conducts other internal reporting projects as needed.
  • May develop process enhancements based on reporting.
  • Provides advanced support to management, associates, and other key groups via analysis output and financial expertise.
  • Directs information and process updates across systems.
  • Serves as an analytics resource to wider organization or business units, offering guidance and participating in strategic initiatives.
  • May prepare documentation, presentations, or other materials for business purposes.
  • Tracks performance across assigned systems, products, or business units, projects and identifies issues limiting potential gains.
  • Recommends workflow changes to achieve financial goals or minimize financial impact.
  • Assists management in implementing recommended changes, and in ensuring compliance
