About The Position

Amazon Advertising is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the finance team supporting Ads AI Core Infrastructure (ACI) — the organization building the foundational AI and machine learning infrastructure powering the next generation of Amazon Ads. This is a unique opportunity to be at the intersection of finance and AI, supporting one of the most strategically visible teams within Amazon. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will closely work with business and finance leaders to develop financial models for both short and long term business and financial goals, evaluate new business opportunities, and drive business initiatives for projects with strategic significance and high exposure. This is a high visibility role, working across multiple teams in Amazon. Additional responsibilities include weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting of financial performance and ad-hoc business analysis support. This role requires a self-starter and independent individual with strong financial modeling abilities, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations. The successful candidate will have shown experiences in past roles influencing business owners and supporting decision-making in rapidly evolving environments. This is a high visibility role, and has regular interaction with executives and various business units across Amazon, and therefore requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, this role requires strong business sense and capability to independently drive business partnership.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Bachelor's degree or above in finance, accounting or related field
  • Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving, or experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business sense and capability to independently drive business partnership
  • Self-starter and independent individual with strong financial modeling abilities, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
  • Master's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field
  • Experience in hands-on infrastructure, troubleshooting, systems administration, networking, DevOps or applications development
  • Knowledge of BI analytics, reporting or visualization tools like Tableau, AWS QuickSight, Cognos or other third-party tools
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level, including: pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive key financial operating mechanisms for a high-growth engineering organization.
  • Produce executive-level business reviews.
  • Support annual operating plans.
  • Partner with engineering leaders on cost optimization for large-scale inference infrastructure.
  • Support OP1/OP2 planning cycles including narrative development and financial modeling.
  • Build and maintain inference cost forecasting models for compute infrastructure, partnering with engineering to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Manage financial controllership including variance analysis and month-end close activities.
  • Assist in the development of tools to better understand changes in traffic patterns.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on ad-hoc strategic analyses, including AI adoption reviews, productivity assessments, and investment business cases.
  • Uphold and enforce an environment of ethical practices and strong financial controllership.
