About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this Senior Financial Analyst (Markham-hybrid) role is focused on project and subsidiary reporting for a portfolio of government‑funded infrastructure projects. It’s a highly visible, deadline‑driven role that is critical for the company to fund its fibre network expansion. You will own monthly project‑level reporting packages (financial and operational) delivered to external government stakeholders, as well as IFRS‑compliant subsidiary financial statements. Your work will directly impact the company’s ability to fund its fibre network projects, making this a critical role in Xplore’s growth strategy. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning a portfolio of projects end‑to‑end, thrives on deadlines, and is as strong in communication and stakeholder management as they are in Excel.

Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting; exposure to preparing external financial statements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills – you are comfortable explaining financial and operational results to non‑finance stakeholders and corresponding professionally with government bodies and other external parties.
  • Highly organized and deadline‑driven – you can manage multiple, recurring reporting calendars at once and understand the impact of missing a deadline on cash flow and project execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both financial and operational reporting.
  • Solid problem‑solving skills – you can investigate variances, reconcile complex data sets and propose practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to multi‑task and handle changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • High degree of integrity, responsibility and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • External auditing experience from a public accounting firm is an asset.
  • Background in or exposure to construction, infrastructure, telecommunications and/or project accounting is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly project reporting for government‑funded projects, including: Project‑level P&Ls, balance sheets, cash flows and cost reporting; Operational and project status reporting required by external stakeholders
  • Prepare and submit funding requests and supporting documentation to funding bodies, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness so that Xplore can access project funding on schedule.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external stakeholders (e.g. federal/provincial programs) to clarify requirements, respond to questions and resolve issues.
  • Build strong relationships with internal non‑finance teams (e.g., program management, network build teams) to gather operational data and project progress reporting.
  • Prepare and draft external consolidated, combined and standalone IFRS‑compliant financial statements and note disclosures for subsidiaries of Xplore.
  • Prepare underlying working papers, reconciliations and support for subsidiary audits.
  • Work closely with external auditors and internal finance team members during annual audits of subsidiaries.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency across project‑level and subsidiary reporting.
  • Prepare certain month‑end entries and reconciliations for more complex accounting transactions related to Xplore subsidiaries and projects.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Financial Reporting and other SFAs to refine project reporting processes, templates and controls as the portfolio grows.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, improve data quality and strengthen documentation.
  • Support other ad‑hoc analyses and tasks related to projects and subsidiaries as needed.
