About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in supporting Scotia Global Asset Management (SGAM) within Global Wealth Management. The role is responsible for financial reporting, planning, forecasting, and analysis, providing valuable insights to business leaders and key stakeholders. Working closely with business partners across the organization, the Senior Financial Analyst supports decision-making through reporting and performance analysis while identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and influence to support the adoption of budgeting and forecasting processes and contribute to continuous improvement within Asset Management Finance.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Strong financial reporting, planning, forecasting, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or MBA is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the securities, asset management, or investment funds industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Global Asset Management Finance team in the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial results, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers of financial performance and explain significant trends and transactions.
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and multi-year planning activities for Asset Management.
  • Partner with business leaders to enhance forecasting processes, including those related to AUM-driven revenue and expenses.
  • Prepare accurate budgets for business units and support functions while coordinating the collection of financial and operational data from stakeholders.
  • Perform analytical reviews of forecasts to ensure completeness, reasonableness, and alignment with business performance.
  • Prepare closing journal entries, support the trial balance process, and assist with monthly business line allocations.
  • Deliver actionable financial insights and trend analysis to support management reporting and business decision-making.
  • Lead the sub-advised management fee calculation process, coordinate reconciliations with external partners, and ensure timely invoice payments.
  • Respond to finance-related inquiries and provide revenue, expense, and management reporting analysis.
  • Support senior management through ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and special projects.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen financial controls.
