About The Position

Horizon Media is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support FP&A activities for its managed affiliate companies. This role involves reporting, business analysis, budgeting, planning, and KPI monitoring for affiliates such as Horizon Media Canada, Blue Hour Studios, One Horizon, Horizon Commerce, Horizon Big, and Horizon Business. The analyst will assist with the monthly close process, including variance investigation and risk/opportunity assessment, and collaborate with affiliate business management and Horizon finance teams to ensure accurate financial records. The position also supports monthly forecast refreshes, the annual budgeting process, and the preparation of board of director materials and client profitability reports. Additionally, the role involves responding to ad-hoc requests, identifying process improvements, and assisting in the development of financial tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting / economics preferred
  • 4+ relevant years of experience in FP&A / corporate finance
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar G/L systems is a plus
  • Interest in the media industry is a strong plus, though prior experience is not a necessity

Responsibilities

  • Support all FP&A activities related to Horizon’s managed affiliate companies, including reporting, business analysis, budgeting/planning and relevant KPI monitoring.
  • Assist with the monthly close process for all Horizon managed affiliates, including investigating and understanding each company’s variances and related risks and opportunities to the current forecast.
  • Collaborate closely with affiliate business management teams and Horizon finance teams to analyze monthly revenue/expense variances and ensure accruals and adjustments are properly recorded in the accounting records.
  • Assist with monthly consolidation of affiliates into Horizon consolidated financial statements.
  • Support the monthly refresh of all affiliate company forecasts through close collaboration with affiliate business leads and Horizon finance teams.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process for all Horizon managed affiliates, including evaluation of revenue, headcount needs, SG&A expenses, and overhead allocations.
  • Assist in preparation of board of director materials.
  • Assist in preparation and analysis of client utilization and profitability reporting.
  • Respond to ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special assignment, as needed.
  • Identify areas of improvement within existing financial and reporting processes and make recommendations for enhancements to current practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tools to improve financial processes.
