About The Position

The duties and responsibilities of this role are to manage all aspects of the financial accounting for the organization. This includes financial statement preparation, quarterly Board reporting, preparing for financial statement audits, transfer pricing and intercompany transactions, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations. This position would play a lead role in budget and forecast preparation, be involved in various new and ongoing projects and recommend efficiencies. In addition, this role will assist in the preparation and review of the financial statements when necessary.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA) is required
  • 5+ years of corporate financial accounting experience
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • General accounting skills
  • General knowledge of GST/HST/QST tax rules
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epicor or similar ERP system is an asset
  • Knowledge of accounting software packages preferable EPICOR and AP Link
  • Knowledge of e-commerce banking applications e.g., AR/AP link
  • French is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Creation of monthly reports including forecasting, cash flow statements and balance sheets
  • Development and documentation of processes and procedures ensuring financial controls are in place for the organization
  • Involvement in preparing presentations to the Board Meeting
  • Conduct variance analysis and participation in valuation exercises for the subsidiaries
  • Accomplishes finance and organizational mission by completing related results as needed
  • Strengthen governance across all aspects of financial reporting
  • Produce detailed monthly statements for each department, along with a consolidated income statement and balance sheet
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Resolve late entries, exceptions and other closing issues
  • Lead the interim and year-end audits (i.e. preparation of financial statements and working papers) and liaise with the external financial statement Auditor
  • Prepare standardized supporting documents to support amounts and disclosures reflected on financial statements
  • Support corporate tax, HST/GST filings with accurate schedules and documentation
  • Migration of the financial data into Epicor from other accounting systems
  • Test and verify correct financial data within Epicor after transfer
  • Reviewing current financial processes and recommending efficiencies
  • All other tasks and duties assigned
