About The Position

Microsoft is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead financial discovery projects for Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA). The team provides reporting and analysis to inform financial and business decisions, supports litigation matters, and ensures compliance with regulatory entities. The role involves detailed research and reporting from large datasets, learning complex reporting criteria, understanding project requirements, and delivering precise, accurate, and timely reporting for regulatory and compliance purposes.

The successful candidate will combine financial reporting, data analytics, project management, and research skills to provide critical information to business partners and support CELA executives. The position works collaboratively with stakeholders inside and outside Finance and with data scientists, and contributes to more efficient reporting and processes, including through automation, detailed analytics, and AI tools.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field and 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or a related field; or bachelor's degree in one of these fields and 4+ years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
• Advanced time management, prioritization, and organization skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to perform queries on complex databases.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field and 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience; or bachelor's degree in one of these fields and 8+ years of such post-graduate experience; or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with Microsoft financial processes and reporting technologies and systems, such as MS Sales, Mercury, and MSRA.
• Ability to use the latest AI tools to increase impact and improve and scale processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep financial research and analysis, including reviewing archived or historical financial information and combining disconnected data sources when necessary.
• Document processes and outputs meticulously and maintain tight control of data custody.
• Follow prescribed processes meticulously and maintain tight control of data custody.
• Improve team efficiency and effectiveness through better reporting, automation, process excellence, and detailed analytics, including using AI tools to scale accurate and timely responses to stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business partners and provide concise, high-quality reporting to meet their needs.
• Partner with key stakeholders within and outside Finance.
• Partner with data scientists to learn to write queries and understand data structures over time.
• Proactively identify and solve business problems and issues.
