About The Position

The Global Finance Group drives financial strategies based on expert understanding of Lam's breakthrough technologies, the semiconductor market, and the global business environment. They manage our company's financials and relationships with our investor community to ensure we have the strong financial foundation to fuel innovation and growth. This role offers the opportunity to influence the financial strategy of R&D investments at a senior leadership level, directly support innovation outcomes, and serve as a strategic finance advisor to business and technical leaders. The Senior Manager will bring advanced analytics, scenario planning, and executive-level insights to improve investment prioritization, portfolio performance, and long-term value creation—while maintaining strong financial stewardship for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or business-related field with 15+ years of experience; or Master’s degree or equivalent certification (MBA, CPA, CFA, CA, CMA, or equivalent) with 12+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
  • 10–15 years of progressive finance experience, including senior-level business partnership and strategic decision support.
  • Strategic business partnering with technical, business, and executive leaders.
  • FP&A, value/ROI analysis, scenario modeling, and advanced analytics.
  • Accounting responsibility.
  • Building executive-ready dashboards, decision frameworks, and data-driven management reporting.
  • Experience supporting R&D, engineering, or innovation-driven organizations.
  • Solid knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment and lead cross-functional strategic initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or MBA.
  • Experience in semiconductor capital equipment or a similar high technology industry.
  • Background in R&D portfolio management or innovation investment governance.
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytics, automation, AI tools, or data visualization platforms to support investment decisions and executive storytelling.
  • Prior experience in investment banking, corporate development, corporate strategy, transaction advisory, or a similar deal-oriented finance role.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior finance partner to Program/Product Line R&D leaders, shaping strategic and operational decisions through executive-level financial counsel.
  • Lead financial analysis for R&D portfolios and programs, including business cases, ROI analysis, scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and funding strategies.
  • Drive value-based decision-making across the R&D lifecycle (concept, development, launch, and post-launch performance).
  • Translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations for leadership.
  • Develop advanced analytics capabilities, dashboards, and predictive insights to improve portfolio visibility, risk assessment, and investment trade-off decisions.
  • Lead long-range planning, strategic roadmap development, capital allocation decisions, and cross-functional governance discussions tied to technology investment priorities.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
  • Support monthly close, accruals, reserves, and financial statements for the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards (US GAAP/IFRS as applicable), and internal controls (SOX).
  • Partner with Corporate Finance, Accounting, and Audit teams on reporting, audits, and policy implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, data quality, automation, and analytical capabilities.
  • Build scalable management reporting and analytics frameworks that translate complex data into actionable executive insights.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, value creation, analytical excellence, and strategic thinking across the organization.
  • Lead financial planning and advanced analytics for R&D programs, including program budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis; headcount and resource modeling; milestone-based funding and performance tracking; and portfolio analytics, performance indicators, and predictive risk and value insights.
  • Partner with program managers and senior leaders to identify cost, schedule, technical, and value risks, and develop mitigation strategies that support portfolio-level trade-offs.
  • Establish and improve R&D financial governance, metrics, dashboards, and analytics-enabled decision forums.
