General Description: We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager – External Manufacturing to join our Global Tech Ops Finance team. This is a critical role for an experienced finance professional who will own and govern core inventory, revenue accounting, and product costing processes, while also serving as a key FP&A partner providing business performance reporting and insights regarding the external manufacturing operations. This role will play a central part in expanding external manufacturing finance capabilities at the intersection of technical accounting, financial controls, and performance management, while serving as a backup to Hopewell internal manufacturing to ensure continuity of inventory, costing, and close processes. The Senior Finance Manager will act as a process owner, accountable for accuracy, governance, continuous improvement, and business insight across inventory, revenue, and costing, while partnering closely with regional and global stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Tax, and Commercial teams. This is a hybrid (office/remote) work location position based in our Hopewell, NJ office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Bachelor's in accounting or finance with 7+ years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis, preferably within the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry, with experience in supporting operational units and manufacturing finance.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA a plus.
  • Proven experience in a corporate FP&A role, ideally within a large, complex organization.
  • Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and champion best practices.
  • Excellent computer software skills (Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using SAP and EPM tools (e.g., TM1, Hyperion, Adaptive, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end inventory and product costing processes for the external manufacturing footprint, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP, and internal accounting policies.
  • Serve as the global and regional subject‑matter expert for inventory and cost accounting for the external manufacturing business.
  • Ensure GL accuracy and completeness, including oversight of journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity.
  • Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring adherence to close calendars, control checklists, and reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee monthly reconciliations with 3PL providers related to inventory, revenue, and receivables, resolving discrepancies proactively.
  • Own standard cost setting and maintenance, including verification, analysis of variances, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Drive system and process optimization, including SAP S/4HANA enhancements, automation, and reporting efficiency.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to analyze and explain financial performance, including: Inventory movements and valuation, Cost of goods sold and margin drivers, Manufacturing performance and delivery.
  • Develop and deliver management‑level reporting, dashboards, and variance analyses versus AOP, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Provide actionable insights and clear financial narratives to support operational decision-making.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate inventory, cost, assumptions, and scenario analysis.
  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to external manufacturing stakeholders across Europe, the US, and Asia.
  • Own ad‑hoc analyses and strategic projects supporting the growth and maturity of the external manufacturing operations.
  • Serve as a backup for Hopewell internal manufacturing operations as needed, ensuring continuity in inventory accounting, product costing, and close activities.
  • Serve as a key external manufacturing finance contact for internal and external audits, including preparation, walkthroughs, issue remediation, and audit support.
  • Lead and contribute to the development, documentation, and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements as it relates to the external manufacturing operations.
