Senior Finance Business Partner

Cook Group•Bloomington, IN

About The Position

The Senior Finance Business Partner – Commercial FP&A acts as the senior strategic finance partner to Cook Medical's global Sales and Marketing organizations, with end-to-end ownership spanning revenue and pricing, commercial cost-to-sell, and return on promotional investments and marketing campaign spend. This role combines deep financial analysis, proactive advisory partnership, and the judgment to challenge the status quo — translating complex commercial performance into clear, decision-ready recommendations that drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and operational efficiency. This position is not aligned to a single analytical lens: the Senior Finance Business Partner is expected to move fluidly across revenue/pricing, cost-to-sell, and marketing/promotional ROI analysis, applying whichever is most relevant to the business question at hand — bringing real depth, not just breadth, to each.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA) or MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance/FP&A experience — demonstrated capability and a track record of impact weighted as heavily as years of tenure.
  • Fluent English communicator, comfortable working across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Deep, cross-domain fluency across revenue/pricing analysis, cost-to-sell economics, and marketing/promotional ROI analysis — knows which lens a business question actually needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of pricing mechanics — list price, discount/rebate structures, and GPO/contract-tier dynamics — and how each drives net price realization.
  • Deep fluency in cost-to-sell economics — separating fixed from variable spend and tying each variable cost to its true driver to diagnose cost trends with precision.
  • Comfortable and credible challenging long-standing assumptions or spend patterns, and making the case for change to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen across demand planning, sales funnel/pipeline dynamics, pricing levers, and incentive compensation schemes.
  • Advanced, driver-based financial modeling — scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and ROI modeling — that supports real decisions, not just reports.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, customer segments, and competitive dynamics to inform commercial strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; translates complex data into clear, executive-ready narratives for audiences at every level.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft 365 skills; hands-on experience with Power BI, Business Objects, or equivalent, and familiarity with ERP, EPM, and CRM systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Salesforce).
  • Fluency in AI and modern data tools, with the judgment to evaluate outputs critically rather than take them at face value.
  • Structured, root-cause problem-solving across ambiguous, cross-functional issues.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment, managing multiple priorities with minimal oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFA) or MBA

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end analytical view of Cook's commercial performance — revenue, pricing, cost-to-sell, and ROI on marketing/promotional investment — applying whichever lens a given business question actually requires.
  • Conduct root-cause, driver-based analysis (price vs. volume vs. mix; fixed vs. variable cost; ROI vs. original assumption) that goes beyond explaining results to recommending action.
  • Own the monthly PVM bridge — list price vs. discount/rebate/GPO-tier movement, and existing-account growth vs. new-account acquisition vs. lost accounts — so a soft quarter gets traced to its real cause.
  • Track contract and tender renewal risk across key accounts, and get ahead of pricing or retention decisions before renewal cycles hit.
  • Proactively bring data-driven recommendations to senior commercial leadership on a standing basis, and challenge legacy assumptions or spend patterns where the data supports a better path.
  • Serve as a trusted, direct advisor to VP- and Director-level Sales and Marketing leaders — with the credibility to deliver findings they didn't ask for.
  • Establish, maintain and evolve KPIs for the supported commercial area and flag emerging financial risks before they're asked about.
  • Own planning & forecasting for assigned commercial areas end-to-end — revenue, margin, cost-to-sell, and promotional/campaign ROI — including the monthly and quarterly close cycle behind it.
  • Partner with SIOP and Demand Planning teams to keep the revenue forecast connected to the demand plan.
  • Build and own ROI ledger for promotional programs and marketing campaigns, tracked against original business-case assumptions.
  • Maintain the cost-to-sell walk by category — incentive comp, travel, samples, contract fees, support headcount — tagging each fixed or variable and tying every variable cost to its true driver.
  • Evaluate — and help administer — sales incentive compensation and other selling costs for effectiveness and alignment with business goals, recommending plan-design changes when payouts drift from intended behavior.
  • Lead process-improvement and standardization work that reduces manual effort and strengthens commercial reporting.
  • Informally mentor less-senior analysts and business partners, pushing their analysis a step further — no formal reporting line required.
  • Lead or support cross-functional projects spanning Sales, Marketing, and Finance, and build trusted relationships across the organization.
  • Safeguard the integrity of the commercial data behind every recommendation.
  • Build & deliver with clarity, the polished analyses that reach senior leadership and Board-level audiences.
