About The Position

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) group is a strategic partner to Bain Capital's business units and senior executives. This group builds the budgets, forecasts, and multi-year plans that shape how the firm invests and operates, and maintains the management basis P&L that leadership relies on. The FP&A team is collaborative and holds itself to a high standard, ensuring its work is accurate, insightful, and ready for senior audiences. This Senior Associate role will support the growing complexity, size, and volume of Bain Capital, reporting to an FP&A Manager and supporting the private markets businesses. The role involves being a trusted partner to business unit leaders and a go-to resource for teammates.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in FP&A or accounting (public or private)
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
• Sound judgment and the willingness to take responsibility for decisions.
• Advanced Excel and strong financial systems skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the analysis behind the annual budget process and the monitoring and reforecasting throughout the year for assigned businesses.
• Contribute to the firm's long-term strategic plan, translating real-time and planned business changes into clear financial projections.
• Deliver periodic reporting to business unit COOs and CFOs, with thorough trend analysis that surfaces the "so what," not just the numbers.
• Partner daily with the compensation team, corporate finance/accounting, and department leaders to keep plans and actuals aligned.
• Prepare journal entries to bridge the tax basis P&L to the management basis.
• Take on ad hoc projects from business unit and senior leadership, often under tight timelines, giving broad exposure to the firm's businesses.
• Review own work rigorously before it leaves the desk, and proactively flag issues, risks, and opportunities rather than waiting to be asked.
