About The Position

RESA Power is seeking a Senior Field Tech for their Transformer Services Division. This role involves performing troubleshooting, electrical/fluid testing, repairs, and fluid services on transformers, rectifiers, regulators, and high voltage components. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical equipment, mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Senior Field Tech will also be responsible for quality control, customer communication, and mentoring junior technicians. This role requires up to 50% travel and may involve flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering Technologist or a Journeyman Trade certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven mechanical skills and/or experience with different types of low and high voltage equipment.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, looking up information, and/or creating reports.
  • Oral and written communication skills; ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to read work orders and/or specs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with team, various departments, and/or customers.
  • Customer focused; able to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and produce a quality work product.
  • Valid driver's license (for positions utilizing a company vehicle).

Nice To Haves

  • CDL license a plus for the Transformer Services Division.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, electrical/fluid testing, repairs, and fluid services of transformers, rectifiers, regulators, and high voltage components.
  • Complete incoming, visual inspection for electrical and mechanical defects.
  • Troubleshoot, test, maintain, redesign, rebuild, retrofit, and/or repair electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and breakers on customer sites.
  • Test, repair, and recondition SF6 circuit breakers, air breakers, and reclosures.
  • Design and fabricate bus bar.
  • Perform transformer and switchgear painting and paint preparation, including removing and cleaning components, removing and refilling fluid, and processing fluid.
  • Select, re-condition, and weld various components/devices.
  • Ensure quality control of transformers, including completing final test reports, verifying warning signs, bushing ID, nameplate, and taking final pictures.
  • Continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
  • Communicate with management for problem resolution and job status updates.
  • Maintain strong client relationships, prepare project estimates, expand project work scopes, and assist in negotiating extra charges.
  • Walk through customer sites, inspect problems, and report them to Sales and Project Management.
  • Manage ongoing schedules and travel planning for timely customer response.
  • Mentor and train Field Techs.
  • Work with team members to complete assignments and utilize information from leadership regarding customer needs and product requirements.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and observe all safety rules and company policies.
