About The Position

Performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer’s facilities. This includes electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. Responsible for troubleshooting, training, establishing LOTO, interacting with customers, report writing, etc.

Requirements

Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Must have strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgement.
Demonstrates organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.
Demonstrates the responsibility required to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning required.
Project management experience and be able to support management in the planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an endorsement to operate a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate field service operations, ensuring the timely and effective completion of tasks.
Provide guidance and support to field technicians to meet performance goals.
Provide expertise in resolving technical challenges and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Interact with customers to understand technical requirements and address service-related inquiries.
Maintain positive customer relationships through effective communication.
Provide training and mentorship to field service technicians.
Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
Must have extensive knowledge and be able to lead the following tasks: o Transformer Testing – Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, and leakage reactance. o Cable Testing – Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, and cable thumper o Circuit Breaker Testing – Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, and vacuum bottle integrity testing.
Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
Plans, participates, and develops safety meetings and training.
Must support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.
