  • Experience with electrical testing, instrumentation, SCADA, energy management systems, or power plant controls.
  • Experience commissioning first-of-kind technologies, pilot projects, or large-scale demonstrations.
  • Knowledge of utility-scale power systems and grid-connected equipment.
  • Experience with RTDS, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or other real-time simulation platforms.
  • Familiarity with grid dynamics, grid stability, and inverter-based resource behavior.
  • Experience collaborating with national laboratories or universities on testing, research, or demonstrations.
  • Experience developing technical reports and presenting results to engineering and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field execution of technology validation programs at the NLR test facility.
  • Design, build, and implement test setups for emerging energy technologies, including battery energy storage systems, inverters, controls, and other advanced power system equipment.
  • Convert test objectives into safe, efficient, and executable field test plans.
  • Prepare equipment, instrumentation, wiring, communications, and data acquisition systems required for testing activities.
  • Execute tests and demonstrations while ensuring adherence to safety requirements and test procedures.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and report test data and findings.
  • Develop test reports, lessons learned documents, technical summaries, and recommendations for future deployments.
  • Manage multiple test campaigns simultaneously and prioritize activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead commissioning activities for first-of-kind and pilot technology deployments at the testbed and project sites.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, AES engineering teams, laboratory personnel, and third-party specialists during commissioning activities.
  • Develop commissioning plans and procedures.
  • Verify equipment functionality, communications, controls, safety systems, and operational performance.
