About The Position

Frontier-Kemper-Tutor Perini joint venture is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to join our Manhattan Tunnel Project in New York, New York. As a Senior Field Engineer, reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities. You will coordinate with subcontractors on advanced material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables, and develop and assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements. You will prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed. You will prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times. You will monitor and participate daily in field construction process, providing layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements, and obtaining confirmations from design engineer as needed. You will assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittits, RFI's, and performance records, and maintain accurate payment records. You will assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution, providing accurate and factual assessments of project performance. You will participate in change orders and claims management, identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work, develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities, and manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or similar, from an accredited institution
  • 5 or more years of civil construction experience
  • Experience on large heavy civil infrastructure projects in dense urban setting with public sector clients a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements.
  • Project controls techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts)
  • A strong working knowledge of the critical path method and resource scheduling.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and Primavera P6.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic - Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
