About The Position

At Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc., we don’t just build infrastructure – we build life-changing infrastructure. We are a privately owned, employee-owned (ESOP) civil contracting firm headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. Our work spans public works, water resources (including water and wastewater treatment plants), and site development, with expertise in underground utilities, roadway construction, and related civil infrastructure. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Senior Facility Maintenance Technician to support our Jacksonville headquarters and Fleet Shop operations. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and professional environment for our team. This position is primarily based at our main office in Jacksonville, with regular support provided to our nearby Fleet Shop facility. This is a daytime, scheduled position. The role follows a consistent Monday-Friday schedule and is not an on-call position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, mechanical work, or related trade experience
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Experience using hand and power tools (including air tools and pressure washers)
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and MVR review
  • Professional appearance and conduct

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of building systems, light mechanical repair, or equipment maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections (�site walks�) of office and shop facilities to proactively identify maintenance needs
  • Complete general building repairs including drywall patching, painting (interior and minor exterior touch-ups), small-scale tile and insulation work, and fixture installation
  • Change interior and exterior light bulbs and maintain lighting systems
  • Assemble and relocate office furniture as needed
  • Replace HVAC filters and perform basic troubleshooting, including minor component replacement when appropriate
  • Perform light plumbing repairs including faucet, toilet, and urinal repairs, and minor leak correction
  • Troubleshoot minor electrical issues safely and escalate when necessary
  • Inspect roof areas and identify potential leaks or concerns
  • Maintain property landscaping including mowing, edging, weed control, trimming, and blowing hardscapes
  • Clean gutters and wash exterior windows as needed
  • Ensure exterior areas remain safe, professional, and well-maintained
  • Assist Fleet and Shop teams with facility-related needs
  • Retrieve parts and materials as required
  • Support shop organization, cleanliness, and facility improvements
  • Assist with general maintenance projects and other duties as assigned
