About The Position

As Senior Operations Manager, you'll provide strategic operational leadership and oversight of the engineering team with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively operating machinery and systems while achieving maximum uptime. You'll be responsible for protecting and improving the value of the client's assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function through implementation and management of reliability-based maintenance programs. You'll execute equipment inspection and monitoring programs, define and implement maintenance best practices to improve overall mechanical equipment uptime, and continuously evaluate current maintenance, operations, and reliability methods to enhance effectiveness and maximize performance. This senior position combines advanced technical expertise with strategic leadership responsibilities, requiring you to build strong client relationships at all organizational levels, ensure the highest level of professionalism, mentor operations managers, and foster a culture of safety and excellence across multiple engineering teams and facilities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of facility-related work experience including customer service, leadership, and supervisory experience in a senior managerial capacity
  • 5+ years managing multi-site operations or supervising operations managers and large engineering teams
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes with deep understanding of construction planning, execution, and project management
  • Advanced exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office, CMMS systems, and operational analytics tools
  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills with proven record of excellent internal and external customer service at all organizational levels
  • Strong financial acumen including budget management, forecasting, and cost optimization experience
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or similar discipline
  • Universal Technician certification for CFC's
  • Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent
  • Professional certifications such as CFM (Certified Facility Manager), FMP (Facility Management Professional), or PE (Professional Engineer)
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proven track record of successful client relationship management and contract growth

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain refrigeration, cooling, HVAC equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and other mechanical and electrical systems while overseeing repair and preventive maintenance programs across multiple facilities
  • Supervise and manage operations managers, engineers, and maintenance staff including hiring, training, performance evaluation, succession planning, and instilling professionalism across teams
  • Develop and implement strategic facilities operations plans aligned with client objectives and organizational goals
  • Oversee parts and procurement strategies to ensure adequate inventory of tools and supplies through purchase orders, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and periodic inventory optimization
  • Oversee contractor activities and ensure the Critical Facility Work Authorization (CFWA) process is well-understood among staff and contractors while managing vendor performance and compliance
  • Identify safety hazards, implement remediation measures, administer comprehensive safety training programs, conduct safety audits, and ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation including building drawings, single-lines, and records mandated for regulatory compliance while implementing document management best practices
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships between the client and JLL team to foster trust and partnership at executive levels while providing direction per the Incident Escalation Process
  • Provide mentorship, training, and leadership development to expand operations staff capabilities through hands-on instruction, proper tool use demonstration, and recommending external engineering courses
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, analyze operational metrics, prepare executive-level reports, and present recommendations to senior leadership and clients
  • Manage operational budgets, forecast capital expenditure needs, and optimize resource allocation across facilities
