About The Position

Bloodworks Northwest is seeking a Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide specialized skills and expertise in repair, maintenance, and construction across multiple regulated 24/7 healthcare and laboratory facilities. The role operates efficiently with minimal supervision and assists other maintenance staff, engineers, and Facilities staff throughout the Puget Sound region. This position requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent judgment to perform skilled repairs, guide maintenance staff, and manage various facility systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum four years of relevant building trade, maintenance, or construction experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical, Painting/Drywall, Flooring Installation, Glazing, Pipe fitting/Plumbing, Carpentry/Cabinetry, Furniture, Assembly, Mechanics, HVAC/R, Equipment Repair
  • High School graduate or G.E.D. plus additional vocational coursework preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • The ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • To access certain client facilities, the incumbent may be required to apply for and obtain clearance to use the client property. This clearance process may require the incumbent to undergo additional levels of screening beyond Bloodworks' standard pre-employment screening.
  • Possess and maintain a driver's license for at least 3 years.
  • Valid State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record in the State of residence.
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of vehicles.
  • Must meet MVR standards required by the Bloodworks Vehicle Safety and Training Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Use critical thinking, problem-solving, and appropriate independent judgment to provide skilled repair.
  • Guide Maintenance staff by structuring assignments according to department priorities, the skills of staff, and through the use of the automated work order system.
  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures, including faucets, sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
  • Paint facilities and equipment; prepare surfaces for painting; apply paint to building interiors, fixtures, and equipment, or to the exterior; strip, paint, or stain cabinets, doors, and woodwork.
  • Install, modify, and repair modular office furniture; move office furniture, equipment, and supplies between locations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including roof systems, vehicle checks, filter changes, and building rounds.
  • Troubleshoot repairs and alterations of doors and fixtures within our building facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for maintenance and repairs.
  • Communicate with the vendor to schedule repairs, greet, and assist while repairs are in process.
  • Document maintenance, repairs, and completed work for inclusion in the equipment database.
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools; works with a variety of chemicals, including cleaning products, solvents, glues, etc.
  • Organize maintenance areas, electrical and service closets, and inventory tools and equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and other regulatory requirements.
  • Perform duties of a Facilities Maintenance Technician as needed.
  • Rotate on-call responsibility and after-hours response. On-call responsibility requires the ability to be available on short notice, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Ensure full compliance with the standards outlined in the BWNW Vehicle Safety and Training Policy and the Liftgate Safety Policy when operating or riding in company vehicles.
