About The Position

Washington County's Department of Facilities, Fleet, and Parks is looking for an experienced, journey-level Maintenance Technician to join us in creating safe, welcoming, and comfortable public spaces to serve the diverse staff, citizens, and visitors of Washington County. The Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician is the top journey-level class in the Facilities Maintenance Technician series. Candidates at this level work closely with assigned technicians to: provide mentoring for any apprentice-level staff, provide leadership for the Facilities Maintenance Technician II staff when applicable, perform administrative and overview support of goods and services contracts, assist in scheduling routine maintenance services with contractors, and manage and assist the supervisor in maintaining the standard practices of the Facilities trade. This class is distinguished from the Facilities Maintenance Technician I and II in that the journey level has obtained their license and can perform journey-level work. This position may exercise functional and technical supervision over assigned maintenance and technical staff.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience performing general journey-level maintenance work in a building trade or in building construction.
  • Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Must possess or have ability to obtain within sixty (60) days prior to hire a State of Oregon Limited Building Maintenance Electrician's license (LBME), or equivalent or higher, as a condition of employment.
  • Some positions in this classification are required to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment prior to appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Skills to perform simple plumbing and wiring of systems.
  • Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and materials used in residential or commercial building maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance and care of buildings.
  • Knowledge of plumbing installation and repair.
  • Knowledge of carpentry and metal work.
  • Knowledge of use of tools and power equipment.

Responsibilities
