Blue Origin, LLC is a privately owned aerospace company developing technologies that will establish an enduring human presence in space. We are seeking Sr. Facilities HVAC Technician to join our team of coordinators, planners, and technicians. This team is chartered with evaluating customer requirements, effectively planning and supporting facility occupancy and ongoing changes to building envelopes. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight. Requirements

  • 7–10 years of relevant practical experience in industrial/commercial HVAC maintenance, industrial facilities, or construction management.
  • Specialty Electrician HVAC/R 06A or 06B license (Washington State).
  • EPA 608 Universal certification.
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial/industrial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, AHUs, cooling towers, refrigeration).
  • Strong subcontractor and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 10/30 industrial safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • CGA bulk gas system safety training or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including humidifiers, boilers, rooftop units, air handling units, VFDs, and split systems.
  • Operate, maintain, and monitor GN2 (Gaseous Nitrogen) and LN2 (Liquid Nitrogen) bulk storage systems, distribution piping, pressure regulating valves, vaporizers, and associated control equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on cryogenic storage tanks, pressure vessels, vacuum-jacketed piping, relief valves, regulators, and fill connections.
  • Monitor LN2/GN2 farm inventory levels and system operation and ensure uninterrupted supply to manufacturing and test operations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair GN2/LN2 distribution system components, including solenoid valves, pressure regulators
  • Ensure cryogenic systems comply with ASME, CGA (Compressed Gas Association), NFPA, and OSHA standards for pressure vessel and cryogenic safety.
  • Operate and monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) to ensure optimal environmental conditions across facilities, including clean rooms, laboratories, and manufacturing spaces.
  • Support the continued use and improvement of the CMMS preventive maintenance program (Maximo) for our properties, including work order documentation, asset tracking, and PM schedule optimization.
  • Act as the general contractor on major facilities, HVAC, and cryogenic infrastructure projects, performing functions such as soliciting and evaluating bids, reviewing work efforts, managing budgets, and maintaining schedule.
  • Conduct refrigerant tracking, recovery, and documentation in accordance with EPA regulations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Source, order, and confirm receipt of project materials; manage inventory of critical HVAC and cryogenic spare parts.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, cryogenic safety protocols, and Blue Origin safety requirements.
  • Provide general technical and mechanical support on an as-needed basis
  • Participate in on-call rotation to respond to after-hours facility emergencies, including cryogenic system alarms and supply disruptions.
