About The Position

Gilbane is seeking a Senior Estimator in its Federal division. This role serves as the lead civil, structural, and architectural estimator for firm fixed price pursuits, in coordination with the Senior Estimating Manager. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management field and/or office experience equivalency.
7-10+ years relevant experience
Lump Sum Bidding.
Extensive knowledge of Winest, On‐Screen Take‐off, and similar software for take‐offs and estimate pricing for C/S/A systems construction.
Supportive computer skills for varied formats such as basic Windows applications plus pdf’s, TEAMS, Zoom, etc.
Ability to present estimating deliverables to management and explain advantages in utilizing one contractor over another, scope gaps, cost swings, etc.
Ability to conceptually estimate projects with limited information.
Ability to estimate multiple facility types such as hospitals, hangars, office structures, specialized mission structures, base improvements, renovations, and additions.
Ability to maintain healthy working relationships with industry partners (Owners, designers, subcontractors, etc.) for the development of estimating deliverables.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Federal construction programs and markets is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Read plans and specifications and understand the requirements of the RFP focusing on the Civil, Structural, and Architectural, and other related specification sections.
Analyze, quantify, and provide cost estimates for the scope of work, inclusive of Gilbane’s General Requirements.
Develop accurate labor crews, crew productivity, and provide input for project schedule.
Advise designers, in design-build projects, on solutions with the lowest initial cost to meet the RFP.
Write effective RFIs.
Create and coordinate comprehensive bid packages.
Identify and engage with C/S/A subcontractors throughout the bidding process.
Create and distribute the C/S/A bid scope of work checklist.
Collect, analyze, and compare competitive subcontract and supplier bids.
Develop and recommend appropriate risk register values for this scope of work.
Track and report on current material and labor prices, including escalation.
Track and report on current material and equipment to identify long-lead items.
