About The Position

The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating process for demolition, abatement, remediation, and construction projects from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission. This role evaluates project drawings, specifications, site conditions, labor requirements, subcontractor scopes, equipment needs, disposal costs, permitting requirements, and project risks to develop accurate, competitive, and complete proposals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong technical estimating knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while collaborating effectively with operations, project management, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of construction estimating experience
  • Direct experience estimating demolition, abatement, remediation, or environmental construction projects
  • Experience estimating asbestos abatement, lead abatement, selective demolition, structural demolition, or related environmental work
  • Experience using PlanSwift and On-Screen Takeoff
  • Experience developing detailed estimates, bid proposals, subcontractor scope reviews, and change order pricing
  • Strong understanding of labor production rates, equipment utilization, subcontractor scopes, disposal requirements, and project sequencing
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to manage multiple proposals and competing deadlines
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain within a defined period after hire
  • Valid driver's license
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Environmental Science, or related field
  • CDPHE asbestos certifications such as Asbestos Building Inspector or Contractor/Supervisor
  • Experience estimating public and private sector projects
  • Experience with environmental remediation, demolition, abatement, civil/sitework, and environmental construction proposals
  • Knowledge of CDPHE, OSHA, EPA, and local permitting requirements
  • Experience reviewing asbestos inspection reports, hazardous materials surveys, environmental reports, and project specifications
  • Experience supporting bid strategy, value engineering, and project transitions from estimating to operations

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of accurate and timely estimates for demolition, abatement, remediation, and construction projects
  • Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, addenda, site reports, and contract requirements
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, and other estimating tools
  • Develop estimates for labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, trucking, disposal, permitting, and compliance requirements
  • Prepare estimates for asbestos abatement, lead abatement, selective demolition, structural demolition, environmental remediation, and related scopes
  • Identify project risks related to access, phasing, production rates, labor availability, hazardous materials, disposal requirements, and scheduling
  • Review subcontractor and vendor proposals for completeness, pricing accuracy, and scope alignment
  • Develop bid assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, alternates, and value engineering recommendations
  • Analyze market conditions, labor trends, material pricing, and disposal costs to improve estimate accuracy
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project scoping meetings
  • Coordinate with project managers, field teams, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and clients
  • Support change order pricing, budget updates, and estimate revisions throughout project lifecycles
  • Participate in bid review meetings and present estimate details, assumptions, risks, and pricing methodology
  • Support project handoff from estimating to operations
  • Compare estimated costs to actual project performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Support development of estimating templates, cost databases, and best practices
  • Mentor junior estimators and provide guidance on takeoffs, pricing strategies, scope reviews, and bid preparation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating function
