Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, including infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and tunnels.
  • Proven experience developing accurate estimates and supporting successful bids on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex project data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong decision-making ability with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for various construction activities and materials.
  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other expenses.
  • Develop and submit bid proposals in response to RFPs and RFQs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Analyze historical data and current market conditions to inform cost estimates and pricing strategies.
  • Monitor and compare project performance against estimates to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Provide insights to project teams regarding risks, cost trends, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in construction technology.
