About The Position

Turner & Townsend is seeking a seasoned Senior Estimator specializing in infrastructure cost estimating. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience and be capable of working independently or as part of a high-performing team. This role involves providing advice, leadership, and direction, actively promoting the company's purpose, values, and vision. The Senior Estimator will be involved in producing and presenting independent estimates, providing cost advice to key infrastructure clients, developing complex engineering projects from feasibility to detailed design, and reviewing/validating estimate submissions from General Contractors within a Progressive Design Build environment. The position also includes providing costings of options, cost reconciliation estimates, participating in value engineering and probabilistic risk assessment workshops, producing cost benchmarks, and interfacing with clients, stakeholders, contractors, and consultants throughout all project stages. Collaboration with project teams to manage expectations and achieve client goals is essential, as is participating in the validation or assurance of Target Price submissions.

Requirements

  • Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering / Construction Management Degree and/or Certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in cost estimating positions across pre-contract/post-contract phases of infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with estimating software used on major civil engineering projects.

  • Membership of professional organizations is a bonus (e.g., CIQS / RICS / AACE).

Responsibilities

  • Producing and presenting independent estimates, providing cost advice to key infrastructure clients (e.g., aviation, transit, highways, etc.), developing complex engineering projects from feasibility/concept design up to detailed design (pre-tender estimates).
  • Review and validation of continuous estimate submissions from General Contractor(s) and providing associated cost advice to clients and stakeholders typically within a Progressive Design Build (PDB) project delivery environment.
  • Providing costings of options and presenting these to project clients and stakeholders.
  • Providing cost reconciliation estimates including associated justification to be presented to project clients and key stakeholders.
  • Actively engaging in value engineering workshops to identify the cost savings and optimum solutions available for the client.
  • Participating in probabilistic risk assessment workshops to calculate cost impacts as part the Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) process.
  • Producing cost benchmarks for validation and target-setting on major infrastructure projects.
  • Actively interfacing with project clients, key stakeholders, contractors, and consultants (engineering, etc.) providing cost advice during all project stages.
  • Working in close collaboration with high performing project teams to ensure expectations are managed adequately and clients’ goals are achieved.
  • Participating in the validation Target Price or assuring Target Price submissions.
