RPC Company is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Senior Estimator – Industrial Insulation & Fireproofing on behalf of a nationally recognized leader in industrial specialty services. This is a direct-hire opportunity based onsite in Gardena, California, serving one of the most active industrial corridors in the western United States. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a seasoned estimating professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. The successful candidate will own the full estimating lifecycle for industrial insulation, fireproofing, and related specialty scopes across the refining, petrochemical, power, and heavy industrial markets throughout Southern California. Reporting to estimating and operations leadership, the Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates and proposals for industrial insulation and fireproofing projects. This includes detailed quantity takeoffs, scope review, vendor and subcontractor coordination, and bid development for turnarounds, outages, maintenance contracts, and capital projects. The role requires a balance of technical estimating proficiency, commercial acumen, and strong cross-functional collaboration with the sales, project management, operations, and engineering teams.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of progressive estimating experience within industrial insulation, fireproofing, coatings, or a closely related specialty craft.
Demonstrated experience estimating for the refining, petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial markets.
Strong working knowledge of industrial insulation systems, passive fire protection (SFRM, intumescent), and corrosion-under-insulation (CUI) considerations.
Proficiency in some kind of quantity takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Accubid, HCSS, or On-Screen Takeoff, etc.).
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work onsite in Gardena, CA.

Nice To Haves

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required (equivalent experience considered).
Experience with multi-craft or bundled specialty scopes (scaffolding, insulation, coatings, and abatement).
Familiarity with turnaround, outage, and maintenance estimating cycles.
Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for digital takeoffs.
Established relationships within the Southern California industrial services market.

Responsibilities

Review project documents — including blueprints, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work — to develop accurate and competitive bids.
Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment quantity takeoffs for industrial insulation, fireproofing, SFRM, intumescent, and corrosion-under-insulation (CUI) scopes.
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and proposals for new construction, maintenance, turnaround, and capital project work.
Apply sound engineering and field knowledge to evaluate scope, identify risk, and develop competitive pricing strategies.
Partner with the sales and business development teams to support client relationships, project pursuits, and major proposal presentations.
Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and operations to ensure smooth handoff and alignment between estimated and executed scope.
Communicate proactively with clients and internal stakeholders regarding design changes, value engineering, budget variances, and project scheduling.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive material and equipment pricing.
Maintain awareness of competitive activity, market conditions, products, and emerging technologies within the industrial services sector.
Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and documentation standards.
