The Senior ERP Application Analyst, Payroll plays a key role in optimization and supporting Beth Israel Lahey Health’s Workday ERP platform and serves as the expert in Workday payroll capabilities. This role serves as a strategic partner to Payroll, HR, business stakeholders and external vendors to maintain and optimize scalable, efficient solutions that improve operational processes and drive organizational value. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong payroll experience resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement. The Senior ERP Application Analyst, Payroll also helps shape the ERP roadmap and championing innovation through automation, AI, and intelligent workflows. In addition, this role mentors junior team members, promotes best practices, and supports a high-performing, customer-focused culture.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related field, preferred, or equivalent work experience.
7+ years’ experience with ERP systems
5+ specializing in Workday Payroll
2+ years’ experience with Workday integrations, security and custom reporting.
Experience with several large scale, full cycle implementations.
Experience configuring earnings, deductions, pay groups, payroll calculations, costing allocations, schedules
Extensive experience with payroll and timekeeping systems
Proven ability to analyze payroll reports and understand how registers and reports tie together
Experience working in complex, matrixed environments, preferably within healthcare
Proven ability to configure Workday business processes, custom validations, calculated fields to meet business requirements
Proven ability to support and troubleshoot Workday integrations, including EIBs & Core Connectors
Understanding of systems architecture, APIs, and integration best-practices.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, manage competing priorities, and work independently in a remote/hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

Act as a SME for Workday Payroll and lead the ongoing maintenance, configuration, and optimization of payroll in Workday in close collaboration with IT, business stakeholders, leadership and external vendors.
Lead business processes configuration, custom validations and integrations for payroll processing and reporting. Specifically responsible for configuration of earnings, deductions, pay groups, payroll calculations, costing allocations, schedules and security roles. Also support grant related payroll costing allocation and payroll adjustments.
Leverage deep payroll expertise to serve as a liaison between IT and payroll business partners, building strong relationships through leading regular check-ins to review priorities, align on objectives, and manage a pipeline of initiatives.
Serve as integral member of project teams in key organizational initiatives impacting Workday by representing Workday payroll capabilities, configuration and requirements.
Spearhead end-to-end delivery of ERP continuous improvement initiatives related to payroll, including requirements, design, configuration, testing, deployment and training support. Incorporate automation, AI, and machine learning where appropriate to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Ensure all configurations and processes adhere to payroll regulations, internal controls, and audit standards.
Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 production support, including proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex issues across Workday payroll configuration and integrations. Perform root cause analysis and document solutions to ensure long-term stability.
Support Workday bi-annual releases, including regression testing and adoption of new features to maximize system value.
Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering knowledge sharing, consistency, and high-quality delivery across the team.
