The Senior Equity Trader is primarily responsible for determining the method of trade, the brokerage firm to use and obtaining the best price and execution for equity trades. Additionally, the role requires conducting some equity research coverage.
Requirements
- SIE, Series 7 and 65 licenses required.
- Advanced knowledge of equity securities, including mid and small cap stocks
- Advanced knowledge of the capital investment markets
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent PC skills including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications
- Proficiency with computer-based trading systems, especially Longview
- Advanced developmental and analytical skills
- Excellent people and process management skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under extreme pressures with strict time frames
Responsibilities
- Secure favorable terms for equity transactions by choosing the right brokers, timing, and trading systems.
- Analyze market trends, news, and economic events to determine the best‑performing products and pricing.
- Recommend and implement updates to internal policies, procedures, and programs to enhance trading efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure all trading practices align with regulatory requirements and complete monthly compliance reviews and reports.
- Oversee and execute lead equity, fixed income, and cash trades.
- Research settlement issues and perform portfolio analysis to recommend new investments or potential sales within your assigned sector.
- Engage daily with street equity research sales teams and effectively share relevant information with the Portfolio Managers.
