Senior Heavy Equipment Operator/ Brooksville Operations This position will be responsible for maintaining our state roadway systems. Requirements

Knowledge of MATHEMATICAL CALCULATIONS.
Knowledge of STANDARD SAFETY RULES AND PROCEDURES.
Knowledge of THE PROCEDURES, TECHNIQUES AND USE OF EQUIPMENT IN THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF HIGHWAYS, BRIDGES AND/OR OTHER HIGHWAY STRUCTURES.
Skills in OPERATING A VARIETY OF HAND AND POWER TOOLS.
Skills in OPERATING AND PERFORMING MINOR MAINTENANCE ON LARGE EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLES.
Skills in COMPLETING JOB RELATED REPORTS AND FORMS.
Skills in COMMUNICATING BOTH VERBALLY AND IN WRITING, INCLUDING FOLLOWING ORAL/WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS.

Must be readily available to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).
A valid Class "A" CDL is required at time hire.
The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates.
High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency and four years of infrastructure construction or maintenance experience.
An additional year of experience for a total of five years of experience, in infrastructure construction or maintenance is a substitute for a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
A valid Class “A” CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is required at time of hire.
Must have an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy.
Applicants must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Drug and Alcohol (FMCSA) Clearinghouse.
Must meet the qualifications outlined in Title 49 CFR Part 391.11.

Nice To Haves

Must obtain certification in Maintenance of Traffic - Intermediate Level within one year and maintain it.

Responsibilities

Operates vehicles and a variety of large equipment to include, but not limited to; road graders, sewer cleaner and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance.
Performs minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated and assists in the repairs of this equipment; check and add fluids, checks/adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc.
Cleans and washes equipment.
Coordinates, participates, and directs the maintenance activity of the assigned crew.
Assists in selecting materials, supplies, equipment, inspecting, planning workloads, work flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees.
Maintains records of operation.
Prepares and maintains daily paperwork such as crew activity reports and daily vehicle check lists.
Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments.
Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Trains crew members in the operation of heavy equipment and of basic Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
