About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm with more than 2,800 professionals, providing engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services to public agencies and private clients throughout the United States. The Senior Environmental Scientist conducts environmental investigations, performs wetland impact analyses and permitting, and supports ecological assessment and restoration projects. The role applies ecological principles, environmental practices, and federal, state, and local regulations, and also includes project management and business development activities.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to requests for proposals.
Engage in business development opportunities.
Manage projects.
Support preparation of NEPA documents, including environmental setting and impact analysis sections.
Assist with or manage, with supervisory oversight, state, federal, and local regulatory permit applications, including Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401, and provide documentation for coordination of compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Document methodologies and findings from research and field investigations.
Characterize and assess environmental resources, including surface waters, wetlands, forests, streams, soils, plants, and wildlife.
Collect resource data and samples during field investigations.
Analyze and manage field-investigation data.
Determine the location, scale, scope, condition, and impacts of natural resources.
Collect field-location data using GPS and create maps and other graphics using GIS software.
Write environmental technical reports, field delineation reports, impact assessments, environmental inspection reports, and similar reports with supervisory input and oversight.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
