About The Position

The Senior Scientist / Geologist serves as a senior technical leader within Tasman's Engineering & Consulting group, providing expertise, guidance, and strategic direction across large projects, client programs, and cross-functional teams. This role is responsible for defining technical approaches, reviewing complex environmental projects, supporting innovation initiatives, mentoring staff, and helping drive successful project execution. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced environmental professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while supporting the development of project teams and technical programs. As a trusted resource across the organization, this position influences project outcomes, technical standards, and long-term business success.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent higher education in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, remediation, or oil & gas sectors
  • Specialized knowledge of environmental investigation and remediation practices
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects of varying size, scope, and complexity
  • Experience collaborating with EHS, engineering, construction, and project controls teams
  • Advanced technical problem-solving abilities
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical writing and document preparation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to influence outcomes and drive collaboration across teams
  • Valid driver's license
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Relevant technical diploma or university degree
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, remediation, or oil & gas sectors

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on complex environmental projects and sites
  • Review environmental investigations, remediation strategies, and corrective action approaches
  • Evaluate and support implementation of innovative remedial technologies and solutions
  • Serve as a technical resource for project teams, clients, and leadership
  • Support company-wide technical initiatives and best practices
  • Review and provide guidance on work plans, technical reports, and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs)
  • Assist project teams with project scoping, planning, scheduling, and technical execution
  • Support project managers in managing project risks, deliverables, and client expectations
  • Help define project priorities and technical objectives
  • Ensure technical consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance across projects
  • Mentor and train environmental scientists, geologists, engineers, and project staff
  • Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate technical resources across projects
  • Foster accountability, ownership, and collaboration within project teams
  • Support workforce development and technical growth initiatives
  • Provide high-level technical problem solving and decision support
  • Contribute to development of technical standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Support innovation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Influence technical direction for major projects and client programs
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, EHS, and project controls teams to achieve project objectives
