About The Position

The Leidos National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) Program is seeking a Senior Level Environmental Safety Specialist. This professional will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William J Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Egg Harbor, NJ. This position will support the FAA's EOSH Team. NOTE: This position will be on site 3X per week with potential for telecommuting 2 days per week. No business travel is anticipated.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major course of study in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Applicants that have obtained degrees from other disciplines and have obtained professional designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Certified Safety Professional or the American Board of Industrial Hygiene as a Certified Industrial Hygienist will also be considered.
  • Must have at least (10) ten years of relevant and documented experience in the following: Environmental laws and regulations, specifically for New Jersey (NJDEP).
  • Air emissions permitting, including Title V air permits.
  • Calculations, monitoring, and recordkeeping for hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).
  • Clean Water Act (CWA) regulations, including NJPDES permitting and stormwater management.
  • Must have OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

Nice To Haves

  • Performing risk assessment modeling, including AERMOD, CMAQ, and AirToxScreen
  • Experience at research and development facilities and/or aviation facilities

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental due diligence across multiple programs
  • Develop scopes, review findings, and provide clear directions to internal teams on environmental conditions and permitting
  • Working with other team members to promote environmental compliance through construction and facility operations, including support for training and inspections
  • Develop, summarize, and clearly communicate environmental obligations across multiple wide-ranging internal and external stakeholders, including design, construction, and operations teams
  • Develop training regarding environmental requirements for compliance and awareness
  • Project management overseeing environmentally related improvements and construction.
  • Communicate professionally with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Manage and oversee both scheduled and unscheduled compliance inspections by federal and state authorities
